@khurtwilliams just heard the discussion. Thank you for pointing me to the exact point. This is actually something I do not appreciate about podcasts - when it's a bunch of people talking, one can go an entire episode without anything interesting or important, only to discover something amazing at the tail end. Thus I prefer single person podcasts...

@khurtwilliams as to the point itself - yes, that's part of my problem - if I want to abandon Facebook, I lose value in terms of modes of communication. If I want to replace Facebook, everyone needs to be on the same platform. Now, iOS has this amazing 'Instagram-on-the-fly' feature that's totally underused (they should make it a separate app, or more obvious). The only true answer is the web. That tells me that I should look for FOSS Facebook alternatives and just launch one of my own for me, my friends, and everyone's families...

@nitinkhanna have you tried mastodon? I had an account for a few months. None of my IRL friends or family used ti so ... deleted the account a few weeks ago.

@nitinkhanna One voice in my head is too monotone for me. Same reason that web vidoes don't work for me when learning. I prefer round table discussions.

@khurtwilliams I'm on a few mastodon instances... I still see it as a twitter replacement... Is there anything specific about mastodon that you wanted to highlight?

@khurtwilliams listen to Philosophize This! That guy is anything but monotone :D You and I are so different, it's amazing! I hate round table discussions! They're so noisy! I love being a part of them though... :)

@nitinkhanna In the past I atttend infosec events where someone would stand in front of a room and talk for 45 minutes or more. Then I attended forum style events. I preferred that format. But I also learn well in a classroom where I can interrupt and ask questions. Yep, learning styles differ.

@nitinkhanna yes. No IRL friends or family on it. And challenging to find people I already follow on Twitter on it. So ...
