First week with Journelly: taonaw.com
@jtr Love this. I never used to use my phone for any writing, but I find myself using the dictation button in a Journelly note all the time. I think he things of the .org thing as an implementation detail, so as to not limit his audience, but you're right, for me it's The Thing™. (Oh, and I noticed you tend to (mis)spell it as "Journally", which I've also done a lot. Maybe I'll make a yasnippet for it) 😄.
@jtr This really warms my heart 😊 I've been putting in quite a bit of work into this app. Seeing folks regularly using Journelly and writing about it is cherry on the cake. Thank you for your enthusiamsm and all the time you've put into sharing your findings.
I'm with you on org being an important strength. I'm an org person too and also been wanting a tool like this for myself.
@jtr Like @jbaty says, I'm also treating it as implementation details so I can widen reach. So far, I may have managed to keep markup details out of Journelly's UX fairly successfully. I'd love for the app to appeal to both Org and Markdown enthusiasts alike. Perhaps also those who are indifferent of file format but are privacy concious.
I'm starting with Org cause that's what I use. If I manage to build a tool that works for me, I may have a shot a building something that works for others.
@xenodium Good catch! Yes, these were added in Emacs when I prepared the screen captures. At some point, I think I saw an - if there was no location earlier on, but now the location is always populated (it’s on unless I remove it).
@xenodium Interesting! So there would be a markdown version as well? That’s a smart move; it will definitely appeal to more people.
@jtr Markdown is on the cards, though let’s get org going first and see where that goes.
