We had a family debate that Nutella from Europe wasn’t as sweet as what we get in the United States. I brought a jar of Nutella back and we did a blind taste test. Nobody could tell the difference, they tasted identical. 👍

@jthingelstad my only nitpick would be that nobody being able to taste the difference is not proof that they are identical .... 😎

That said ... back in the day one of my many jobs as a student found me working in Rowntrees ... where Polos were made ... we used to pack up to 30 different versions of the sweet for distribution to countries all over the world. I sampled ... and tasted occasional differences - but definitely couldn’t nail 30 odd variations. But 30 odd variations were definitely made and it wasn’t just packaging.

@JohnPhilpin good point. And for something like Nutella I wouldn’t be surprised if they did taste different. Chocolate has very different preferences in different countries.

@jthingelstad Note: there's at least two kinds of Nutella within Europe. One is darker and more chocolaty, the other is lighter in color and more nutty and sweeter. There's a list somewhere online which countries get which...
