I’ve always thought Apple Maps were quite good (and certainly underrated). The iOS 15 version is an incredible update, including adding the one feature I sometimes used Google Maps for– easily adding a stop along a route.

@jsonbecker If only it was true everywhere. I dumped Google 2-ish years ago, I use maps a lot for important things, and then recently within a minute of trying Google as an alternative because Apple was not helping I immediately saw the stark difference between the two.

At this point I would take paper maps over Apple Maps.

@simonwoods yeah-- I mean I don't go everywhere, but I've had no problems with it as my primary, basically only Map throughout the US (largely in cities, to be fair... but I do make 30+ trips a year in non-covid times)

@jsonbecker Heh, fortunately I’m used to vaunted tech being mediocre for those of us outside of the US, so this isn’t a new experience. It did stand out to me recently specifically with regard to Maps, since it became integral to a very important task, and served as a healthy reminder that I should not be so reliant on digital tools in general.
