Ok, deleting Facebook and Insta (again). Just gotta stay strong for 30 days until they really delete my account.

@ablerism Thanks! I made it past the 30 days a few years back, so I’m relatively confident I can do so again! I do wish there were better ways to keep in touch with some of my family and friends, though…

@joshuapsteele A friend of mine has made Finite Photos as an Insta substitute — a string of photos with captions for up to 100 friends/family, only sent out on Mondays. Human scale digital life.

@joshuapsteele Enjoy the fresh air! I see green meadows and chirping birdsong in your near future

@joshuapsteele I occasionally find a bit of extended-family news and share it with my son, who already knew it from Facebook.

That is the only time I ever wonder whether it was wise to give it up. And I quickly answer “heck yes it was!”

@joshuapsteele I got rid of FB long ago; haven’t missed it at all. Instagram is tougher, At least I deleted it from my phone, so I must be more intentional about checking via the computer. A day will come (maybe soon), when the algorithm feeds me so much junk that I’ll ditch IG altogether too.
