For those who have deleted or deactivated their Facebook account: did you post a note on Facebook in advance pointing people to an alternative site (like micro.blog)?

@ronguest I did, and I probably should have left it up longer than one week. A few people mistakenly thought I’d unfriended them.
@cheri Did you just put up a regular status post? I’m thinking of posting a URL to my page on how to stay in touch and maybe wait a month before deleting the account.
@ronguest I did. I posted that I was leaving FB but that I would do my best to stay in touch. Then I put links to all my internet presences below as comments, and asked people to message me if they needed my phone number. I also included a friendly graphic, which anyone is welcome to borrow.
@ronguest I haven’t deleted my account yet, but have thought about it. My main thing is making sure my entire circle of friends has my number since event invites sometimes go out via Fb. That’s been my main reason for keeping an account there. But, if I did leave a note about deleting my account, it’ll come with my website address and a tutorial on RSS.
@ronguest Yes, I posted a note pointing to my website and to a form where they could subscribe to a monthly email I send out with updates, as well as Micro.blog.
@ronguest No. I just ghosted them.
@thatguygriff Thanks for your input. I did a check last night and the “right” Ron Guest shows up on the first page of DuckDuckGo and Google searches so I’m confident anyone who really wants to can track me down. I’m partly think of posting about leaving in case that encourage others to think about it too.
@ronguest It was about 18 months ago, before I’d heard of Micro.blog. I’m fairly sure I pointed to Twitter (which I’ve since also left). I had a pinned tweet pointing to Micro.blog for about a month before I deleted my Twitter account.
