@joshducharme so a fan I am guessing ... does it ‘ just work’ or are there ongoing aerial fiddles as in the old rabbit ears?
@JohnPhilpin It attaches to your antenna output, so if you have to adjust your aerial without the HDHomeRun, you’d have to do the same here. Fortunately, I have one statically positioned in the attic and have no signal problems, so for me it does “just work”. Of course, I only use it to watch live sports, so it doesn’t get heavy use either. I’ve never tried their DVR service, for example.
I am a fan, but I got caught by the marketing: It indicated you could watch on an Apple TV, but I didn’t notice you needed a third-party app to do it. I also use Channels and love it, but at the time I had to pay for the iPhone/iPad version too, and the two apps were an extra chunk of change I wasn’t anticipating. I also needed to update the firmware right away because the shipping version seemed to have some bad bugs, but it wasn’t obvious how to update it (I think things are better now, and Channels has a pretty simple interface to do it). Being able to leave my TV on a single input has been fantastic, and the ability to stream the shows to my iPad and iPhone has come in very handy at times.
@JohnPhilpin You’re welcome. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
@JohnPhilpin soooo... Not this, but I've tried the OTA antenna and received about 20 channels local to my area. It had a 50 mile(?) range and was totally insufficient and live TV is boring.
That said, Plex has a good tie-up with HDHomeRun and the app is pretty good, so if you're really interested in getting live TV, this is a good bet.
