Currently reading: Building a Second Brain by Tiago Forte 📚 I’ve slowly been adopting DEVONthink for project notes and reference material for work, home, and even woodworking. I’m hoping to refine my system with Tiago’s book.

@jonathansick I’ve tried a lot of ‘second brain’ apps but DEVONThink is definitely the most important for me. The only issue I have is not tagging and sorting all the info regularly enough. Between that and Drafts, it’s all I need.
@BenSouthwood Yes! I want to build a habit of moving old Drafts notes to DT and keep up a system. Out of curiosity, do you have multiple databases for different areas/projects? Or a single DB? I think I like the technical concept of multiple DBs, but it’s also an extra layer of things to open and maintain.
@jonathansick Have you seen Kurosh Dini's Taking Smart Notes With DEVONthink? It was a good complement to BSB.
@jonathansick I use Drafts as an info dump, really. If I have an idea for stories, it goes in there and gets tagged, usually multiple tags. Really, I’d like to move web captures from DEVONThink to Scrivener, but I’m not that organised yet.
@jonathansick I quite like the way DEVONThink organises everything as it is. (Bookmarks, PDFs, etc). That said I tried refining but then got lazy, so it’s a bit of a mess at the moment.
@miljko I dabbled in the book this summer when I was first learning about DEVONthink in general, but I definitely need to revisit it in the context of defining my “system.”
@BenSouthwood Maybe there’s something to be said about minimum-viable organization that I think Forte’s teaches. The more one uses a note/resource, the more one might refine it and add tags or links. Then let DT’s “AI” keep the long tail of info discoverable for when you need it.
@jonathansick I have Forte's book on my kindle but haven't deep dived yet. I find I keep looking at other apps when I start looking too deeply at 'Second Brain' stuff, but my system does me fine. I tried Obsidian and it just didn't work for me.
