Last year I enjoyed taking note of one thing I noticed every day. I thought Iā€™d keep it going & thought I might record it as part of my almost defunct microcast. Iā€™d have liked to add a soundbed to hid the traffic outside my living room, but time & talent held me back. https://johnjohnston.info/blog/wp-co... johnjohnston.info

@johnjohnston That was fantastic! Also to hear your voice. When I read your words I hear them in my own accent; now I know better. šŸ˜† What part of Scotland is your accent from?

@Miraz why thank you. I've lived in Glasgow for the last 40 odd years. Before that close in the West of Scotland, except for a few years in Northern Ireland when I was wee. Accents are quite local here. Mine is probably hybrid.

@johnjohnston Ah, thank you. One feature I noticed that I've also heard on the TV show Shetland is that sometimes the s is more like an sh ā€” for example, when you said "twenty-first". I'm always so fascinated by language, words, pronunciations. šŸ˜

@Miraz you might be interested. I think the only character in Shetland with a Shetland accent is Sandy. Way back Brian Cox made a fuss because he really worked on the accent and was asked to re record!
