Had a great time listening to Fly From Here on the way to the beach for the first time in a while. This tweet from 7 years ago today holds up well.

@apulianas I’m curious what you’ll think of it. I’m not normally a fan of this sort of project, but since they did write that song originally, it seemed fitting that there be a recording of it with them performing it.

@joec I was fascinated reading the history of the album when it first came out. Makes me wonder how many artists have projects like that.

@joec looks like the only way to listen is to buy the CD from Europe, so it might be a bit until I listen but I will report back.

@joec listened to Return Trip twice now. I really hope its not the countless listens of the original biasing me, but I didn’t like almost any of the changes they made to the songs. Felt less grandious and some sections that were so epic in the original lacked the same punch. That said, I’m still glad I listened to it and I’ll tell others to give it a try as well. Thanks again for the heads up.

@apulianas Yeah, I totally get that. Like I said, I still like the original very much. But it’s a toss up on any given day I choose this album which version I want to put on. I find the differences subtle, but interesting. Might be interesting to do one of the tracks on tWL and talk about both versions.
