I know it is an unpopular opinion amongst some Rush fans, but I love Closer to the Heart live. It’s a shame they didn’t always do the jam outro, its what makes it next level in my opinion. I was particularly bummed when they didn’t for R40.

@apulianas I loved seeing them do that tune live, too. But they did it on so many tours, I was fine when they left it out. Of course, I’m the weirdo who would have been fine with them leaving out Tom Sawyer on a few tours, too.

@joec yeah I’d also be okay with no TS. I think the reason I hold the opinion is because I wasn’t around when they overplayed the song and the two versions I got was the weird polka style and the straight up R40 version.

@apulianas The two songs I most wanted to see live that they finally did for me in recent years were Circumstances and Entre Nous. Once I saw those, I gave them free license to play whatever they wanted. Oh, and The Camera Eye.

@apulianas Yeah. That’s why setlists are so tough for bands who have been around so long. I used to complain to Gene that Yes didn’t need to do I’ve Seen All Good People every tour. But he rightly told me that it was probably the only song a lot of people who had been dragged out by significant others would recognize.

@joec very true. My roommate lost it for Tom Sawyer on R40 but that was his first show as an osmosis fan.
