@Gaby I'm currently trying the no-task-manager method, opting instead for a variant of GTD. Between finding myself agreeing more and more with the thoughts of Patrick Rhone re: productivity and the like, and then coming across this post by CJ Chilvers, it finally clicked.
@Gaby Imagine my disappointment when I didn't read anything in your post about managing duck tasks. Or managing ducks completing tasks. I'll have to give someone else a quack at it.
@Gaby Good post. I’ve been using Reminders/GoodTask the last few days and have been mostly happy with it. I’ve been tempted to download Things 3 and mess with it again because I really like the app.
@simonwoods That’s a good article. I’ve been getting better about the capture the task when I think of it. One other thing I’ve been trying to do is if I can quickly complete a task when I think of it without disrupting anything, I complete the task.
@ChrisJWilson @gpittman @Gaby @peterimoore These poultry efforts are likely to be the cause of an oncoming mallardy.
@simonwoods @chrisjwilson @gpittman @gaby So should we all duck tail between our legs and run?
@peterimoore @simonwoods @chrisjwilson @gpittman @gaby I just want to know how to get my ducks in a row and make them do their chores.
@simonwoods ha! This was an interesting read. I guess I am trying to find a tool I am happy to use to create good habits. If that makes any sense.
@gpittman @peterimoore @simonwoods @chrisjwilson @gpittman I feel like I am missing something entirely 😳
@Gaby Read back through the whole ducking thread, including your original post. It'll come to you. And it will be dad-joke gold. @peterimoore @simonwoods @chrisjwilson
@Gaby Yeah I know what you mean. So far the different approach -- rather you choose the tool to match your existing system, i.e. the way you think and act on things -- is working well for me. Feels less stressful because I'm affecting the tool instead of allowing the tool the opportunity to affect me.
@jmreekes There are certain tasks like that for me, when immediate resolution is the only option that makes sense. But I'm generally OK so long as I make a note of it. There tends to be less of a need to first settle my mood if I am picking up from the record rather than memory.
