šŗ October will be beer-free for me
@ndreas I want to get a bit more in shape, and this seems like an easy first step. I drink maybe once a week these days, a couple of beers. If I meet my friends out Iāll have another couple, but itās not happening a lot now. Donāt even have beer at home, for months now. So Iām guessing it wonāt be hard at all š
If it works, great š
@maique a good choice. When my kids were small I never had beer or hardly any other drink for a long time. Now itās easier for me to get out and have a beer or two with friends and thatās something I really enjoy.
@ndreas Totally understand. Ever since the little one was born itās like that for me as well. Not zero beers, but very close. Thatās why I feel it will be an easy one. Next Iāll start my walking routine again, I used to walk SO much, and that has almost stopped now š
@maique I remember my period of time when I was walking for hours with the twins in a trolley. I was on paternal leave for eight months and one of my cousins (also one of my best friends) was on his paternal leave at the same time. We met for lunch every other day and just hung out with our kids and trolleys. I was one of my best times ever.
@ndreas I didnāt have a cousin to walk with, but I agree with the ābest timeā assessment. I loved it.
@maique my yearly consumption is about three beers. I had four this summer and that was too much (and no, I'm not joking).
@jemostrom Maybe Iāll get to that point too. As I said these days itās not even a regular thing but, if we go out with friends, or have a long lunch on the weekend, two or three is normal. Small ones, mind you.
I just feel itās something that would be easy to let go. I love artisanal beer, but not even a big fan of the regular ones. Artisanal is not so readily available, soā¦
@maique in my case it's simply that I don't like the taste. There are a few very dark beers I "tolerate" but in general I don't like the taste. Nor do I like the taste of wine, whiskey (shudder) or alcohol in general. On rare occasions I've had wine that have been well matched with the food and enhanced the taste. But in general I prefer to spend my money on other stuff.
So my total alcohol consumption corresponds roughly to 4-5 beers per year.
@jemostrom Almost the same. The only other thing Iāll drink is a margarita when weāre having Mexican. Donāt like wine as well, donāt drink any other alcohol. Itās also a taste thing.
As far as cost, if weāre talking beer, itās almost negligible. Beer is really, really, cheap here, if you donāt go for an artisanal one. The cost of those 3/4 beers a year would save me less than 5ā¬, thereās not much Iād get for that š
@maique wow. Since it has been literally decades since I bought a beer in a pub I have no idea what it costs here (20 years ago it was probably 3ā¬ for a beer) but at a food shop (that only is allowed to sell beer with a low alcohol %) it's about 2-3ā¬ for a bottle (but I'm not sure about that either)
@jemostrom Weāre still able to get beer at the supermarket for well under a euro, and even regular restaurants will charge maybe 1.5/2 euros for one.
@maique yea, for me too!! Although it was like that for all months for the last several years.. š Maybe one day I should try a Coca-Cola free month. š
@pcora š Coke is even easier for me, I probably have a sip once a month. Or not e even that. Thankfully I love water!
@maique cola is my favorite drink. I drink water and juice, but if cola is available, Iāll take it.
