Whenever you read reviews of any kind of Icelandic content (TV, movies, novels) you need to dial it down at least five notches. Everything Icelandic gets a massive review bump because people absolutely adore the setting. So crap plot, dialogue, story, etc. gets a pass.

@baldur I saw Hrafninn flýgur so long ago that I don't really remember what it was about, all I remember is "Tungur knivur" (spelling).

@baldur ha ha, very true here in the UK. Goes for anything Scandi/Nordic, really; my colleague’s partner is Danish and he just can’t understand the obsession with hygge, crime dramas etc. etc.

@jemostrom This put a smile on my face because I have the exact same experience. I also love the fact that it is just one sound effect that is used everytime Gestur(?) draws the knife, throws the knives, or just used the knife.

@jemostrom I remember when I moved to Bristol back i 2000, when people learned I’m from Iceland, half the responses were “I hate Björk” and the other half were “þungur hnífur!”. 😅
