@JeffPerry Nice overview. One of the things I really like about Bear is the speed. It’s fast all over. Importing a lot of stuff from Evernote took seconds.

@stefp The speed was something I never thought abiut, but now that I look back I have never seen any problems with it, nor have I had sync issues at all. I guess some of the best features are the ones you don’t see!

@JeffPerry OK I am very interested, with my Evernote year expiring in a week or two. What exactly do I get besides themes & multiple devices? I can't find anything that really says what else.

@JeffPerry re: subfolders in Notes, you can set those up on the desktop OS and they carry over to the mobile. Can you attach PDFs on notes in Bear? And what’s it like when you stuff it with notes? Latency is an issue with Apple Notes for me, but I’ve got like 5-6,000 notes

@Verso i like the fact that on certina tags it appends a tag at the end so that tags like blog, music, podcast .... get their own little sumbol - is there anything else you can do with that or is it really just eye candy?

@Verso I found this webpage on Evernote’s website that might help you out. I personally don’t use it, I haven’t in years.

@Christopher I use my Mac very seldomly. I’m primarily iOS only and having to open up my MacBook just to use folders seems antiquated. You can attach files, including PDFs in Bear, and I’m not sure if latency when you have a ton of notes in there. Because of those issues in Apple Notes I’ve made it a habit to clean up any and all unnecessary notes to keep that from happening.

@JeffPerry I know what I get with Evernote, I meant with Bear. Am I paying for more than themes and multiple devices for $15/yr or no? If I am that's fine, I just don't see anything that makes it obvious.

@Verso that’s basically it, but I pay the $1.49 a month and feel good that I’m supporting developers to continue to grow and operate for the foreseeable future.

@JeffPerry I shifted from Evernote to Apple Notes a while back and managed to purge almost 10K items, but having long term storage for stuff is a requirement for my day job/etc. But not totally happy with Apple Notes to be honest. What’s import into Bear like?

@JeffPerry That link looks to be broken. Would be really interesting if notes can be ported out.

@amit here’s the text in it:

Migrate from Apple Notes

There isn’t an automatized way to migrate from Apple Notes, but you can export them as .txt files using Exporter and import them in Bear as described below. Attachments will not be imported automatically.

On macOS you can import your notes by selecting File → Import Notes… from the menu bar.

On iOS you can access to the importers using the Import & Export in the Preferences.
