@Gabz That’s awesome, I completely forgot about that shortcut since I moved to Blot and didn’t even think about converting them to work with Blot. Just finished changing them over and they’re working great. Thanks!
@joshsullivan awesome! When you moved to blot, did you had to export everything from somewhere else too? Did you ever ran into the issue that some posts exported “broken” like the markdown syntax didn’t transfer correctly? I have post that are showing links or words that are supposed to be italic instead, shows the underscores.
@Gabz I ended up downloading my Micro.blog archive then sending it to @blot who ran a script to import it into Blot correctly. Every post came through perfectly. Maybe send an email to support AT Blot.im and ask if David can do the same import for you?
@joshsullivan yeah he did run it but when I uploaded the files something happened. Maybe delete everything and try to upload again?
@Gabz To be clear, the markdown formatting is broken in the file so when you look at the post on the website it doesn’t show up as italics or a link? If so I would reach out to @blot and see if there is something that can be done to fix it. Even if you delete them and re-add the files they will still be the same because it will render the same. It’s possible he can pinpoint why it broke in those posts but not in others and fix it.
@joshsullivan @blot ueah, it’s kinda weird , somehow links transferred with back-dashes \ within the link formatting. For an italic word I see _word_ or something that’s supposed to be in bold I see in the file **word**
@Gabz @bot ah! Somehow Mb sees it just fine but it’ll be like for a bold word \ * \ * word \ * \ * (sorry had to put spaces in between) for italics I see “_ word _”
@joshsullivan sorry to bother you again but did you end up modifying the shortcut to upload the images to Dropbox or something like that. It turns out that this will work for Mb but no necessarily for blot, the way I have it right now ?
@Gabz no worries happy to help. Try this shortcut. It will ask for a path, mine for example is /Apps/Blot/Ramblings/_assets/images/2019/New_Name.jpg
once your set the path make sure you add the New_Name
variable then .jpg like above. Let me know if you have any issues.
@joshsullivan hm, I must be found something wrong. This is the path I have Apps/Blot/Assets/2019/NewName.jpg but when I save my drafts in Dropbox all I get on the website is a page not found 🤔
@Gabz Actually that doesn’t matter, I thought it might. Okay, are you running this via Drafts? Here is a short video of the process I use to add the image to Blot then add the Markdown link to the Drafts where the cursor is: Drafts > Shortcuts > Drafts
@joshsullivan ha! From what I see, I think the culprit is my drafts action it adds this to the format and the path in the text box at the end of the Shortcut (including the variable new_name
) are exactly the same?
@gabz By exactly I mean without /Apps/Blot
. You can take a look at the screenshot I posted a little earlier to compare to, in mine I got rid of /Apps/Blot/Ramblings
leaving the leading /
@joshsullivan seems like everything is working now , can’t believe it was something so “simple” 😓😅
@Gabz I'm glad we got it working. Always happy to help where I can, technology as far as it's come is still so painful to use. One wrong character and nothing works.
Anyways, let me know if you have any other questions.
