@jayeless It is a stressful time and it's absolutely normal to be anxious. I also understand your rant about the measures being taken.

That being said, for the sake of your mental health, my advise would be to take it each day at a time. You are vaccinated, you're intelligent, you won't put yourself in harm's way, and that's all you can do, really. We have very little control over this pandemic, so the best we can do is to stay safe, be patient and not give in to panic. One step at a time.

@jayeless Yeah, I can understand your frustration.

It seems irresponsible that state governments have chosen to completely lift all restrictions right at the point Omicron was taking hold, especially now that state borders have largely opened up. It seems to me that some small, prudent measures now — like requiring masks and revising density limits — would save us the need to take more drastic measures when daily case numbers start getting really high. Sure, being vaccinated may result in a less severe illness, but are these premiers willing to bet the hospital system on it?

I know I'm also quite frustrated that the timeline for the 3rd dose is not reduced further than 5 months after the second dose. I'm sure ATAGI knows what they're doing, but a bit of urgency would be nice. I'm not due for my 3rd dose until early March, but I'd definitely take it sooner if I could.

@Portufraise Thank you for reading it through, and I know you're right – I should worry about the things I can control, and just try to accept the rest. It's unfortunate that it's easier said than done 😔

@lmika Yeah, totally agreed with everything you've said here. I know a lot of people make fun of Mark McGowan with his "fortress West Australia", but I think he's just very conscious of how brittle the WA health system is and doesn't want to take unnecessary risks. Maybe the other states don't have to go as far, but a little more awareness of that issue wouldn't go astray!

@jayeless I get you about the anxiety and frustration! I can see how people in general are getting tired of being stressed out and careful all the time and just want to enjoy the holidays with family. But all the more reason for political leaders to step in with regulations that will help, right? Sigh. My husband and I have been trying to figure out what the responsible thing is to do regarding our holiday plans. Definitely stressful!

I like the satirical article title you mentioned. Too true!
