@rcjackson I used to keep a Write.as blog for longer posts of a very specific type, but no longer see the need for that. I'm in the process of importing the post to Micro.blog.

Some people have both, others have a few blogs in different platforms and have them show up here. Other have only the one hosted at Micro.blog. For me, at the moment, I think that's more than enough. There's really no reason to keep things separate for me. I can post longer, shorter, photo-heavy, whatever I feel like. Posts get syndicated to Mastodon, Twitter (yes, I know) when they're published. it's as close to perfect as I could find after many years on other platforms.

@maique Thanks. Very helpful. I have always had other blogs here and there and have chaged cms's like I change my pants, but dont really need the hassle anymore. I am not trying to "grow an audience" or anything. Just want to write some stuff down and find good people to ineract with. I used write.as for a while - still have an account - but I found it a little cumbersome to post, photos especially. So far, this is easy. Thinking about removing twitter cross posting too. Or at least limimiting it to certain posts.

@rcjackson Same boat over here. Since moving to Micro.blog I'm posting way more often, loving the interactions with the community, and feeling much much happier. No hassle, just a platform where I can be myself and post whatever I like, whenever I like. It feels nice.

@rcjackson it can, in my opinion, then again it depends on what you make of it. My main blog it’s here in Micro.blog, to me is a digital diary and a second brain of sorts. Anything from long posts to short ones, all is valid. But that is my personal use case

@maique @rcjackson Thanks Maique for such a good description of the feeling of micro.blog. You summed it right up.

@mpmilestogo (I've said it before, but it's worth saying again: I'm really glad you picked Micro.blog)

@rcjackson I think Micro.blog actually works just as well for long posts as short ones. I post my long-form posts here, and I'm happy with it – although I did edit my theme so I could truncate long posts in list views (like the front page), while displaying other posts in full. I also think it's a lot easier on me just having one blog to keep updated πŸ˜…

@AlanGMarz Options are always good. And I feel like micro.blog is flexible enough for both or only one.

@mpmilestogo Agree. Micro.blog certainly makes it easy. And that is half the battle.

@jayeless thanks for this! I’m slowly customizing my theme. Need to bug someone about getting all the default Hugo files Mb uses so I can test it locally.
