@jayeless Interesting! Looks like Portugal and some tiny island in the Mediterranean is the only European countries that start the week on Sunday. @maique @helgeg
@odd I really have no idea, it’s a first for me. I didn’t know we had an official start of the week day... For me it starts on Monday, I was kinda surprised with the map. I’d guess it’s still a religious thing, seeing that Malta is the other euro country with Sunday has first day.
@jayeless @odd @maique This is news for me too, I always thought we considered Monday as the first day, all the calendars and work distribution seemed to point that way. Even on a religious basis, I know we're a Catholic country, but isn't Sunday supposed to be the day of rest at the end of a week? 🤔
@Portufraise That’s what I have wondered about the “American” way, with Sunday at the start. 🤔
@maique But: “And on the seventh day God finished his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.” Genesis 2:2 ASV www.bible.com/12/gen.2....
@Portufraise The rest is a good point. But the day of the Lord should be the first, right ? And then comes the second day (segunda-feira), the third (terça-feira), and so on... that’s my reasoning.
@maique Oh yes! Hadn't thought of that, good point.
@jayeless proving once again I’m not a very good American, I use Monday as the start on all my calendars.
@toddgrotenhuis It makes perfect sense to me!
