Looks like @imyke@myke.social and @matt_birchler@mastodon.social were having a brainwave this morning.
One of the strongest showings lately, from a technical perspective! But, and this might be a hot take (as most are glad they got rid of Ive), it bums me out a bit that they’ve given up on making them look pretty and well designed… 😔
@birming @Havn @imyke @matt_birchler I wonder if that’s why they opened with the “design is how it works quote” this time. They’ve leaned into function over form this round. I think I agree that the Pixel lineup looks overall more balanced and aesthetically pleasing. But the iPhone Air is pretty gorgeous.
@jarrod @birming Yeah, I had a simliar thought. (I went more into it here, earlier today. I also compared tot he Pixel, Robert! =) )
And my main point is that I think they could’ve made them look much better while not compromising the functionality. It just looks like they didn’t bother.
(The main thing I’d like, is to widen the plateaus, and just integrate them into the frame. The closest I could find to that, is the Pixel 8.)
Edit: This thing here builds on my point… Apple has added a white block to the clear cases, to hide the fact that the MagSafe magnets doesn’t align with the Apple logo anymore.
@jarrod Cool! I did order the new AirPods Pro (I have the old lightning ones). I’ve tried the Ultra, but I usually go for the smallest Watch (same this year).
