Herman Martinus:

If I’m to be incredibly reductive, there are two kinds of writers: One kind can’t help but write. Words flow from them into the world. The other kind pull words into the world, kicking and screaming. Like getting out of bed too early after a late night.

Which are you?

Me? Depends on the week, but lately the first.

@jarrod Depending on the moment of the day or week, I'm on both but more on the second than the first (65%, 35%)

@jarrod I used to be the former, but over the last couple of years have shifted to the latter, the primary culprit being brain fog from long Covid and a persistent Tinnitus that keens almost non-stop. I can't focus. Reading for more than a few paragraphs is difficult. Ideas used to spring forth unbidden, but now I can't even force them out. I do the best I can and keep it small, but I grieve at times like it's a death in the family.

@jarrod It is and thanks. I feel well supported by friends and family, so while the impact is profound I'm not just flapping in the wind :)

@jarrod both and with the added thoughts - typed or writing on paper with a fountain pen along with or without listening to music or inside looking through a window at rainfall or at a table in the sunshine. Stimuli, stimuli.
