Annie Mueller wrote up some excellent (and timely) advice on being more confident:

Mess it up badly.

I mean, just fuck it up completely. Do irreparable damage. Leave things a total mess, preferably bloody. Look back on your prior crashing-and-burning with a certain fondness. How petty it seems in comparison to the absolute destruction you’re standing in now. How easy it was, in retrospect, to recover. How small a mess, really.

@fabio I like to think of it as another way of saying, "It's going to be okay. It's never as bad as you think."

@jarrod I guess. 😵‍💫 I liked your wording much better though. To me, this piece does not distinguish between accepting past mistakes or failures, and failures that are yet to happen. And it's too inward-focused. Like… nothing matters besides how I feel about my mistakes. Which makes me go: 😫
