My favorite new feature in watchOS 11 has to be the Photos face, and the way that it blends the time *into* the photograph. When it gets the framing right, the results can be seriously fun.

This, in addition to the magical way it can unearth long forgotten beautiful/meaningful photos from my library is just plain lovely.

A Collection of screenshots showing landscapes as rendered on the Apple Watch. The time is shown blended into the mountains where it partially is obscured by the rocks.

@_Davidsmith I’ve recently set my Lock Screen to the same feature on my iPhone and iPad, and it’s a constant delight.

The fog around the Empire State Building blurs the numbers of the time, a reflective building reflects the time.

Sometimes though the first or last digit of the time is lost behind a chimney (London problems)

@_Davidsmith thanks. Been running the beta for a while now and this was the first I’d heard of this new watch face. Guess I spaced during WWDC on that one haha

@_Davidsmith I’ll try watchOS 11 soon, but I have film photos of my young wife on my wrist that cover her face or body depending on if the time is displayed top or bottom. Would love a way to put the time behind her & have it pop into view when I touch it or after a few seconds.

@_Davidsmith I look forward to that update. Never liked the limited options on that face.

As we wind down iOS 18 beta season, let me share my favorite little bug from the summer. The new watchOS 11 Photos face is amazing. But every now and then it gets very confused about where the horizon was and so where to show the time.

Truly timeless landscapes. (sorry, couldn’t help myself l)

An Apple Watch phase showing a photograph of a snowy scene but the time is hiding well below the horizon
