🆕📝 Overcast’s 10th Anniversary Update
I'm sympathetic to Marco's reasoning behind and results of the foundational rewrite, I still love using Overcast, and, yes, I have some likes, dislikes, and wishes.
@humdrum Totally fair. Those things haven’t bothered me yet, and I’m optimistic about them getting fixed sooner rather than later.
@jarrod Good post! I think the new update is slightly worse than where the old were - but some important points: * It's still a great app. * I truly believe this update will make it possible for the app to be way better than it was in a years time.
After ATP, I tried to leave a 5-star review - but I wasn't allowed as I was on the beta, heh. :P I think that's a clever feature - but it slightly backfired now.
@jarrod Great summary. Totally agree with your points, and I’m pleased there’s now a new foundation to build on. The new version has been really buggy for me though. I think the big mistake was trying to launch on an arbitrary deadline, rather than properly testing and releasing when it was ready.
@Havn Thanks for reading! And yeah, I had the same issue. Luckily I still have a device not on the beta and used that one.
@jarrod one thing on your wishlist was also on mine, but I found a work around/solution. For “History View” the best thing to do is to change the Delete option to After 24 Hours. I think this might have existed before, but I turned it on with the update and it means when I wake up in the morning my playlist shows any previous shows that were played. It’s only the last 24 hours, not a complete history, but it’s a decent workaround.
