@jarrod With the callout to M3 already, I'm feeling good about my prediction that there won't be M4. But we'll see!
@jarrod "Huge updates across the iPad lineup." Feeling good about this:
4️⃣ Every iPad gets an update — This is a bit risky, but, again, since it’s been over a year since any iPad was refreshed, they’re all plausibly due. Some might just get a chip bump, while other models get a design refresh as well.
@jarrod Big iPad Air ✅ Whether or not those colors are actually colorful remains to be seen. Oh, and "13-inch" not "12.9-inch". Yay!
@jarrod That's the regular Magic Keyboard right? Makes sense that it'd stick around for the iPad Air at least.
@jarrod Two mentions of "AI" so far at 10 mintues in. Only slightly behind my prediction:
🔟 “AI” will be said at least 15 times — Although I think “Machine Learning” was a better term for this technology, at some point you just have to use the popular vernacular and “Artifical Intelligence” won out. Apple really wants us to know that they’re working hard on AI features, and I think we’ll hear about it at least once every three minutes on average.
@jarrod "Thinnest Apple product ever." Beat out the previous title-holder, the iPod nano, which held it for...gosh, a decade?
@jarrod I think it's pretty clear that Tom Millet will be the next head of silicon after Srouji.
@jarrod Why did they just compare to the Neural Engine of the A11 Bionic? Just for a big number? How much better than M3?
@jarrod A solid update for the iPad Pro's Magic Keyboard. Got the function row and bigger/better trackpad. No USB-C data passthrough though, I don't think.
@jarrod Regular iPad got a price cut (nice!) and pushed out the 9th-gen with the Home Button (also nice!) but the iPad mini didn't get any love today. Updates didn't quite span the entire lineup there, Tim.
@jarrod It's not software day, so expecting a Mac Virtual Display was a stretch. But man, can you imagine if they introduced a macOS-mode. All their hype about blowing away what you can do on an iPad had me thinking maybe they were going to do it after all. And then @ismh might not have been sad about an iPad getting the M4 chip first if it was also a Mac. But alas.
@jarrod At a rough count, I think I got 5/10 on my predictions. Will do a more detailed review later.
@jarrod I'm a bit befuddled by the aluminum palm rest on the new Magic Keyboard. Everyone seems to have wanted a full aluminum keyboard, but that just sounds heavy and cold. I've been plenty happy with the rubbery material of the existing Magic Keyboard. But if it truly is lighterweight, then I guess it gets a thumbs up from me.
