I've gathered and tweaked the markdown files for It's Only Words and used Pandoc to convert them to an epub just so I can get a feel of what the finished item might be like. In eBook format it feels longer than when arranged as separate pages on the web, no doubt because of formatting.
@colinwalker Totally. I’ve been writing a magazine article at work. Seeing it converted from markdown to an actual pdf made it feel so much realer. Had to cut about 2 pages and change formatting of the code to try and squeeze it in.
@jamesvandyne It's been a long time since I've written anything destined for a magazine but remember well wrestling with word counts. I wish you luck with it.
