Noticed that Verizon turned on 5G in my town. The blazing-fast networking future we were promised is here, my friends. 🙄

A smartphone displays internet speed results: 1.9 Mbps download, 1.4 Mbps upload, with latency measurements, against a white background with a FAST logo at the top.

@jarrod I’ve found in most cities that I travel to that Verizon’s 5G performance is abysmal compared to their LTE. I’m currently evaluating their Visible prepaid service for some cost savings.

@jagibson Yeah, I’m switching to Spectrum asap. Same towers as Verizon (they’re the only thing with good coverage here), but I’m tired of paying premium prices for decidedly non-premium speeds.

@jarrod In my periodic testing these last two days I’m finding coverage to be on par (running my Verizon sim in conjunction with a visible trial eSIM). Data performance on LTE so far: Visible just ever slightly lower in download speed but double the upload vs VZW, w/better latency.
