@jack Once upon a time I wanted to have a Cray computer for my own personal use. I didn't complain about the prices and I didn't buy one.
@rmcrob Ha! I actually knew a guy who tried to buy a Cray. It didn't end up happening but I sure didn't try to discourage him. 😁
@jack This would have been avoided if Apple handled the product line appropriately. It's fair to say they have struggled with transitioning into their modern, iOS-lead behemoth form.
I wonder if this is the end for consumer-level towers with Apple or if they'll follow this beast of a machine with a lesser model, or at least produce a lesser monitor. Maybe in the end they'll just sell enough of the iMac and Mac Mini to justify the existing line-up.
@jack the tweet I’ve been waiting to see! I mean, I obviously want one but I’m only occasionally using my non-retina MacBook Air to its full potential. Getting one of these would be completely pointless.
@simonwoods You're probably right about the confusion. And I would love to see a new tower for "enthusiasts". I recently got rid of an old G5 that was in storage and it brought back all sorts of fond memories.
@jack It would definitely help rubber stamp the past couple of years with regard to a renewed commitment to the Mac in general. I mean, assuming they're also going to finally throw the Butterfly keyboard into the memory black hole where it belongs.
I'm not even interested in a tower at all but even this super computer makes me feel better about my gradual move into the ecosystem, since now I feel confident that they'll continue to work on the computer I will actually want.
@simonwoods Same here. My dream is that my troublesome and unpleasant 2016 MBP is something we just shrug and shake our heads about in a few years.
@jack The Mac Pro is for people who think paying 6k for having to wait less for something to complete is cheap
