Speaking of Day One, I can never decide between option A: creating one post per day named, e.g. “Tuesday, June 15, 2021” with everything piled into that, or option B: create a separate entry for everything that happens. Books print nicer, I think, with 1 post/day. Any opinions?

@jack I think Mine would be option B but mostly becasue my entires in Day one are generated... Basically every time I post to my mb, it creates a seperate entry in Day One. That being said, I think I would much rather read, everything that happened in a day, in just one entry, option A. I am curious as how, if i ever do it, books would print in my situation as these ntires include a link to the original post to my mb site

@Gaby Thanks. Yeah, I have separate journals for a couple of RSS feeds. Those I don't print. My main "Journal" journal is the one I try to keep tidy with only simple text and photos. I'm just not sure which version of "tidy" I prefer :)

@jack Now you are making me rethink my DayOne setup. It is nice to not have to think about entering stuff. I can't remember the last time I deliberately opened DayOne and typed something that isn't posted publicly. Creating entries via IFTTT is nice but definetly not tidy

@jack I do both, a daily log that is just a giant list of things. But I also add one post per thing for most other stuff

@jack I do the multiple posts per day thing, mostly because I have other things like my posts here also piping into it, and print them as books and it's fine. So, I don’t know that it matters.

@jack I’m happy with it. That said, you can always get a feel for how your mileage will vary by starting the book printing process in Day One. The preview is pretty good and you can always delete it without ordering.

@jack I kept an "on-line journal" when I went to Clarion in 2001. I did it as an entry per day, uploading each day's post right before going to bed. It worked well for what I was trying to do—document the experience of attending the Clarion Writer's Workshop. It had limitations, though. Most particularly, I can't link to this or that really interesting post without linking to a page with all the other stuff that happened that day.

@sp It would give a place to link to, but I don't think it solves the general problem, which is that each post is about a day in my life at Clarion, rather than about a topic. Which is fine—each post IS about a day in my life at Clarion, so that's as-intended. But since doing that, I've found that writing posts on topics is what I want to do most of the time.

@philipbrewer Yeah, that makes sense. I switched over to micro-posts on my blog for things like that. I once thought of building the day+topic interface but decided against it since I rarely post. @colinwalker has done a real neat re-work on his blog to bring in that blended post display interface.
