Whenever you hear somebody rave about a notetaking app or methodology you should always bear in mind that there is no evidence of membership in a notetaking cult improving somebodies writing, thinking, or ideation.
It’s busywork for intellectuals.

@baldur I'm inclined in many cases to agree, but "no evidence" is a bold claim. I don't see how the we'd even recognize such evidence.
@jack Yeah, that’s a very good point. My impression at this point is entirely anecdotal. Mostly that a writer’s sudden public interest in notetaking esoterica tends to be followed by less interesting writing.
@baldur You act as if writing about writing (and notetaking) isn't the most interesting topic there is! 😜
I really like Roam, but I consider the whole "#roamcult" thing to be a ridiculous circle-jerk by the "Sound Smart" set, and a little embarrassing.
@jack it's actually so embarrassing that it's completely put me off the app (even though they have one of the coolest logos around. That astrolabe, man)
@seishonagon I've tried leaving, but then I use an alternative for a few days and convince myself that as long as I distance myself from that group it's ok.
