New blog post Reaching the End of My Selfie a Day for a Year Project
@iChris fun! I did this maybe 16ish yrs ago when there was a specific Mac app that would stitch them together into a video. So it was more of a “see how you change over the course of a year” thing.
Re: Man in the Arena, the new TR Pres library has a cool exhibit on it, read by famous people.
@iChris I’ll be tuning in to see what’s next. I’ve enjoyed seeing your face when I log into micro.blog. It’s believed that babies prefer looking at faces from day one so maybe it’s just a part of being human, but also your selfies provide a nice bit of contrast to most of the posts I see on here. I don’t take a lot of selfies unless I want to test a sarcastic photo to my kids. I never post them online, but I generally think that’s probably a mistake on my part. I’m still trying to figure out how to come across as a real person and what that means for me on here and selfies are wrapped up in all the complications related to this bigger struggle.
@iChris yay! I have enjoyed your selfie a day AND some days it helped me stay consistent with some of my own routines. So thank you!
@BonnieRue Aw that’s awesome. In the big picture it felt kind of pointless some days to snap yet another pic of my face, but it’s been fun to hear about the folks who I didn’t realize were aware of the project sending me notes about it. ☺️
@rscottjones Yeah I toyed with the idea of doing it in the same spot or some other way to stitch it all together, but in the end got lazy? :) I wrote up a post on it (not on Microblog though ha) now that it’s ending.
@kimberlykg Thank you for the kind words. I’m way too clumsy / lazy to worry about any sort of online branding thing, but I do think selfies help remind us that we are all actually humans on this thing. I think you should try posting online if you’re comfortable. But I know it’s different…
@kimberlykg …for each of us, both in how we feel about posting as well as the kinds of reactions others will give. I cross-post to Mastodon / Bluesky / Threads as well and Micro blog is interesting because I assume people see them, but because there’s no likes it’s hard to know if anyone is…
@kimberlykg …really out there. But I also don’t love how it kind of turns into a vanity project at times… oh that one got 10 likes.. that one got 2. 😆
@iChris I really enjoyed seeing your photos each day. I’m thinking through some of the other daily ideas you listed as there are some I might consider trying out. Or anything really. Maybe I’ll even try selfies 😆
