Has anyone on micro blog hooked it up to being their main fediverse account (I think that’s the right term?) Right now I have a separate mastodon account but I gather I could just use microblog as my mastodon account? Am I right? Any negatives to doing it that way?

@iChris I hook mine into my main mastodon account, but I also post directly to mastodon/bluesky about subjects that don't belong on my blog. I also like Micro log to LinkedIn, but thinking of disconnecting that as I can't manage or control what gets posted there.

@iChris I have! And overall I really like it. You do miss out on some stuff (boosts, polls, mastodon apps experience). But the quieter, calmer, more focused fediverse experience is well-worth it.

@iChris Tried, but doesn't unfortunately feel right so far. 🙁

@iChris I’ve gone back and forth a couple times. I always felt like I’m missing something not being on a Mastodon instance proper, and my Micro.blog feed was overrun by those I want to follow in the Fediverse. To me, the right choice was to alias my MB user to my Mastodon user. YMMV of course.

@iChris I did it the opposite way, by replacing my micro.blog fediverse account with my external one. The only downside is now my Micro.blog feed also includes all the other accounts, even if they don't blog here. Still, it's better than double posting which is what was happening when it was the other way around.

@Thegreenman Yeah I have the cross-posting set up but sometimes disable when I think a post isn't going to make sense on Bluesky or LinkedIn in particular. ;)

@jimmitchell That is a good point I hadn't considered. Maybe it's nice not having all the noise here on Micro blog.
