What the hell happened to The Verge? I don’t know when I visited the last time, but this design is ridiculous πŸ˜…

@hutaffe I love it actually. I find the home page quite useful to check every once and a while, and their new short post format has really reduced the 450 words of fluff to share one interesting thing.

@jsonbecker @hutaffe I'm with Jason on this one. I listened to Patel talk to Gruber about it when they launched, and I totally understand why he was so happy about the changes; specifically, having microblog posts as part of the "stream", which makes it a great alternative to using social media for their tech coverage at all.

@hutaffe I hated at launch. Now I kinda of like it. Feels more like a blog now.

@pcora @jsonbecker @SimonWoods Then I'm probably wrong here πŸ˜‡ I find it extremely hard to read anything. Very demanding for me to take a single paragraph in... there's so much going on.

@hutaffe I understand. They should do a better job of highlighting the sections, especially in the navigation menu since those pages are less dense with information.

I think this redesign is a reaction to the most recent era of big white websites with sparse information that are mostly optimised for phones. I'm confident they'll fine-tune it to strike a better balance.
