I don’t want “HEY for Domains”. I wan’t “HEY” with my own domain: copingmechanism.com/2021/hey-…

@jack Same exact boat, the one we find ourselves in.

@jack I take it that with the discount, you'll be sticking with it after all. 😎

@rishabh Not sure. At least I'm mostly back to the original debate I was having about it with myself :)

@jack I feel like that discount was definitely added after the fact because I didn't see that after I read through it originally. As someone who is sticking with Hey, the discount makes it enticing for me who's never had my own domain setup for email.

@kordumb If I didn't have 10 years of baty.net addresses "out there" I'd just go with the usual hey.com address and be done with it. Part of me wants to do that anyway and leave that legacy behind with a fresh start. That scares me, though.

@jack Wow, it gets better. Unless you signed up before April 22nd, you have to pay for two accounts if you want the privilege of a hey.com address or if you want to use HEY World. That just strikes me as really petty.

Like yourself, the more I think about this I agree the first domain should be free considering the cost of the service, especially when FastMail includes a domain with their plan for half the price of HEY. It’s sad really, as I didn’t hate the service and there were things about it I enjoyed, but this direction they’re heading now is off-putting.

@pimoore I kind of understand why they went this route. I don't like it, but it makes some kind of sense if you're managing the product. I don't think I'd have batted an eye if they had originally launched the service with these options. Still expensive. I just need to decide if it's worth it.
