I came across a wren on my walk today. Its song was as sweet and sharp as lemon sherbet. The unexpected force with which its tiny body punched the air into explosions of sound knocked all the stale indoor air from my own lungs and replaced it with cool spring freshness.

@jeremycherfas @wfm Thank you ☺️. Listening to birds on my daily walk has become the secret joy of the lockdown for me.

@bsag We have a blue tit whose whirrs and chirrups amuse me no end as I sit out on the terrace with a mug of tea or a glass of something stronger. I so wish I could somehow climb into the local park. I bet it is positively hopping.

@jeremycherfas That sounds lovely. My local walk goes through a scrubby but surprisingly wildlife-filled bit of land with a stream through it. It’s not really a park but has a bit of Sustrans route through it. No end of birds there at the moment.

@bsag that is beautiful. Limited to a city park I am appreciating birds more than usual. The lack of traffic helps. You have a wonderful talent for describing birds.

@bsag yay brilliant! Wren’s are my fav. Packed with punch and beauty. 🎶 I recorded a songbird on my walk. Made me stop in my tracks.
