@hollyhoneychurch You might get some tips from Priority Bicycles. I just listened to an interview with the CEO. They use a belt drive and stainless parts and one of their early customers was a hotel on the California beach. Pricey bikes, but maybe better one expensive one than three cheap ones?

@cliffordbeshers thank you! My bikes are really cheap (and therefore less desirable) but not having a chain may also be the way forward ๐Ÿ˜„

@hollyhoneychurch took my bike to the Oregon Coast this summer. Grandchildren borrowed it. They loved riding it through the salt water. Forgot to wash it off. Have a rusting chain to change. Lesson about salt water is not fresh water.

@Lutheran ahh, lesson learnt. Hope itโ€™s not too much trouble to replace. Mineโ€™s already very rusty, my partner said itโ€™s the fastest chain to rust heโ€™s ever seen and Iโ€™ve only had it 18 months ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ ! Get a mad Irish wizard to build you a bike and you may get complications such as this ๐Ÿ˜‚

@hollyhoneychurch We live by the sea, and haven't had significant rusting issues with our bikes yet. Yes, it probably happens faster than you get inland, but I've had my bike for years here without issue.

@adders That's great then ๐Ÿ˜„ what about sand in the gears? Does that happen often and how do you sort it out?
