Making Wicky Thing Candles with the Digiboil is way faster and just easier. We made twice the candles in much less time versus multiple double boilers.

It is also a win that we can make them inside. Last years cooled outside and that can be too fast and cause tunneling.

@jthingelstad Just wondering why you make bulk candles? Do you sell them? Give them as gifts? Use them all?

@Miraz it is a hobby, and once a year we sell them to raise money to support good causes at our Things 4 Good Fall Fundraiser.

@jthingelstad Those are beautiful! How do the wooden wicks compare to the usual rope wicks? I’ve never tried the wooden wicks but I really like the look.

@jthingelstad what a cool fundraiser! I've only made dip candles and it was way too much work 😂

@hollie I wasn’t a candle fan until I found wooden wicks. They burn very different, and I love the crackle sound. From a maker perspective it is nice that they stand in the candle while it sets, instead of hanging. Less fussy. They can be more difficult to get the size and burn right though, so I tend to stick with a known wick and vessel size.

@tracydurnell this year I made the jump to using a Digiboil to melt several gallons of wax at a time. Before we were melting 3 lb batches in double boilers. Using a melter makes a huge difference.

@crossingthethreshold thank you! It is a very fun event and one that I suspect we will keep doing for a long time.

@jthingelstad I went to a local mushroom festival today, and there was a local candlemaker there selling candles with wooden wicks. It's been burning here at home now for the last couple hours, and it's lovely! The crackling is so nice, it sounds like a wee campfire.
