@Gabz At some point I realized that the only reason I write, code or shoot (in my spare time) I do it because I enjoy it. I do it for me. When I realized that I stopped caring about stats, social media and all the other junk.

@hjertnes that is probably the best approach. I need to get better at this.

@Gabz I have also always had a hard time getting addicted to social media, and doing that kind of stuff was always something I did when I didn’t have anything interesting to do.

@Gabz My philosophy: Write like nobody’s reading. And be delightfully surprised when someone responds.

Me writing in Norwegian on a social network where almost everyone writes in English is probably a good foundation for the first part. But still, I’ve been delightfully surprised a couple of times.

@teisam There are a fair number of Norwegians on Micro.blog, which always both surprises and pleases me :-)

@teisam “Write like nobody’s reading.” In some respects, micro.blog is actually bad for me in that regard because knowing that my stuff is syndicated there/here clearly influences my posting.

@smokey I’ve seen a few, though most post in English. Should perhaps be a bit better about checking the discoveryfeed to see if I can discover some more.

But, I enjoy micro.blog as my webhost. And luckily I still can be a small part of the community by interacting with others in English.

@teisam Maybe people whose first language is not English can occasionally post in their own languages to “prime the pump” and signal that yes, there are people who speak XX here? I remember one time seeing someone post in German and a whole bunch of people replying with “I didn’t realize there were other German speakers here!” and now I do see occasional German and French conversations in my Timeline.

But glad you still find value in Micro.blog even in English; skål :-)
