I’m intrigued by the idea that an Apple Watch might be able to be paired to devices that are not phones, or possibly paired to more than one phone. I have long wanted my Apple life to be less phone-centric. I’d prefer a cellular iPad as a primary device. Or maybe a cellular watch—and no phone.

@hjalm Whoa, do you have a link for this? I want the same thing myself; pair the Watch with my iPad and ditch my iPhone.

@pimoore This is the article I read, earlier today. 9to5mac.com/2023/04/2...

@hjalm This has my complete attention. I sincerely hope this happens, as I’ve honestly wanted to ditch my phone for quite some time now. Up until this point I really had no intention of buying an Apple Watch, but this would be the scenario that changes everything for me.

@pimoore High hopes, here, too. I'm ready to be disappointed but I feel it's movement in a direction I like.

@hjalm @pimoore I’m so much in agreement with you both. I’d do Apple Watch and iPad Mini (which I need for work as a remote for presentations) and never buy an iPhone again. Even my iPhone 13 Mini is too big for me.

@agilelisa @hjalm At this point, there’s no reason the watch should require an iPhone except them wanting you to buy a phone. There’s no logical reason why it can’t be set up, and synced with, an iPad — especially a cellular watch.
