@gregmorris I think the inner experience portion that you called out, structural and behavioral, is interesting. I’m learning that, as people, our inner experiences are more varied than most assume but we have the structural back up (a living human body) regardless. Throw in things like Alzheimer’s and other memory conditions it can get murky.

Jeff’s situation maps onto that more closely than it maps onto healthy human memory. Reconstructing identity from state files every thirty minutes is not that far from reconstructing it from environmental cues and partial recall
