Been out all day doing various sightseeing things. One highlight was discovering this amazing Moreton Bay Fig in a tiny beach camp called Pahi.

Huge Moreton bay fig tree.

The New Zealand Tree Register:

The tree is not only big and old but very shapely, one of the best looking of it's species even by the standards of it's Australian habitat.

Approx. Planting Date: circa 1865

@alexwolfe Heh, we hadn’t noticed it and parked beside / next to a branch. I assumed it was a whole thicket of trees. It was when we were walking back to the car I realised that in fact it was one ginormous pleasingly-shaped tree.

@rpmik So impressive! It felt very special. Plus we were fresh from looking at the Kauri museum. They can grow to 50 metres tall and live for around 2,000 years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agat…
