While I’m vacationing in the beautiful Azores, I wanted to film some Tai Chi videos. Anyone have tips, tricks or software recommendations (linux or windows)? My camera does 4k video but I don’t have a microphone. Thanks! 😄

@heyloura Software: Da Vinci Resolve is free, super powerful, and what we use at @overkillwtf. But also a professional software, so a learning curve. Capcut otherwise?

As for mic: That’s hard, since audio is often more important than the image.

@cliophate Thanks for the software recommendations, I’ll check them out. Good idea to try bluetooth headphones, I do have a pair on me so I can test it out. Worst case I was thinking I could record the audio at home with a better setup and then merge it with the video (😆 can you tell I don’t know what I’m doing 😄)

@heyloura while not close to what DR can do, I’ve been using KDEnlive video for a year and was surprised to see how simple it was to learn to use.

It has a few built in affects that help with correcting gamma and work with sound.

@heyloura That obviously works, too, but that’d be a voice over then. Different style, totally legit.
The advantage of using a recording app on the phone and Bluetooth headphones is that you can do more of a “here’s what I am currently doing” type of video.

@heyloura Oh, and a tip: when you hit record on the camera and record your voice on the phone, clap thrice into your hand in a very exaggerated manner. Big movements.

That’ll help synchronize audio and video afterwards.

@cliophate These are awesome tips. I really appreciate it. I do want to go for the “here’s what I am currently doing”/teaching vibe. I’m going to try it out later today and see what happens. I figure the more footage I take the better 😁
