@Gaby Can’t you do it with Micro.blog and Sunlit ?

@maique hm! Like having a secondary mb site for just pictures?

@Gaby I had to make that choice too. I’m close to my free Dropbox limit so can’t use Blot otherwise have to shell out $100 for Dropbox. Instead I chose to have a second MB blog as a photo blog (wanted to keep it separate from my text MB for privacy reasons). That cost $50. I’m sure there are cheaper solutions but may not be convenient. Let me know if you find one.

@Gaby Maybe even the same, with posts tagged, and a tab on the navigation. It could work, if you’re not looking for something too complicated.

@maique That is kind of the setup I have right now, I have a photos tab and anythingthat I tag as photography goes into that category, every other random screenshot of photo doesnt show in it, again, unless i tagg it

@Gaby I host several photo galleries on my Blot account and so far I'm happy with how they function on both desktop and mobile. I have a limited Dropbox plan as well so I export the photos for web to save size.

@Gaby That's what I do. burk.photos is a blot site.

@Burk Do you do anything special when posting? Do just throw the picture in a drobbox folder the same way you would a .txt file?

|

Burk
Burk

@Gaby Yep, pretty much. I name the files by date and put them in yearly folders. That's about it.

@Gaby sorry for the ignorance, but what is blot?

|

@pcora Sorry for barging in, Blot is a blogging platform that turns a Dropbox (or Git) folder into a blog.

@Burk what is "a blot site"? I'm kind of afraid of your answer... as it could trigger a new journey...

@numericcitizen Blot.im It’s a static site generator that uses a Dropbox folder to host your blog

@Burk a bit like Micro.blog, I can’t find a satisfying visual theme... do you know of any sites with Blot templates?

@numericcitizen ummm I think a good number of people on m.b use it. Anyone care to share? Mine uses a modified version of one of the themes burk.io

@numericcitizen I'd be interested as well. @Burk

@Gaby I have a separate blot site for images as well. I'm still on the free tier with Dropbox, but moved everything non-Blot related to iCloud and decided I'd worry about the space when it actually gets to that point. I have a Draft action and Shortcut for it too and you can use the shortcut to resize the photo smaller if needed.

@Gaby we had a lot of conversations about Blot a while ago; I tried to capture some of them on my blog...

@herself this post in particular, though there is another one specifically about setting Blot up for photos... 🥳

@Burk @numericcitizen I have my micro.blog and a Blot site. I don’t need two, but I like both services.

@numericcitizen You can have micro.blog subscribe to the Blot RSS feed so it posts when you update the blot site.

@canion what is the theme that your blot site is based on? I like it!

@canion by looking more closly, I think you are using the Diary theme for your blot.im site. Am I right?
