After a bit of resaearch, I’m getting a new keyboard, the Planck EZ. While I’m waiting for delivery, I’m already tweaking the layout and settings. Very curious about a 40% layout.

@helgeg Fantastic! I have an Ergodox EZ and I’m tempted to get a Planck too just because I’m curious about it 🤓. What switches are you getting?
@bsag Cherry MX Brown switches; I chose a white base, and grey and blue keycaps. I love how tweakable the firmware is.
@bsag I've just been reading your posts on the Ergodox keyboard, and picked up a few ideas for my Planck config. The config editor is super neat!
@helgeg The Oryx configuration is wonderful. The biggest and best change I made was to put the cmd, ctrl, opt and shift modifiers on the home row, mirrored on each half. Tapping the key gives the normal letter, holding gives me the modifier. So much more ergonomic! That's what I miss most when I use another keyboard.
@bsag Yes, that's a feature I've added to my config (which is already on revision 6, despite me not even having the keyboard yet).
@bsag So far the impressions are good. The process of flashing the keyboard is very streamlined, and I am thrilled to bits with the functionality. Having dual functions (letters/modifiers) is really nice. I've put the arrow keys in an inverted T and swapped ESC and TAB (I need ESC in the top corner). Getting used to the raise/lower functions quite quickly.
@helgeg Blown away by a 40% keyboard. I keep thinking about a 60-65% like the Drop Alt, but then I just keep banging away on this Keychron K1. The Bluetooth with three devices is nice here in the home office.
