What is the name of the phenomenon: when people see number “69” they automatically say “nice!”?

Is it a meme? Is it a social something? Widely followed verbal reflex? This fascinates me endlessly

@tkoola You have Bryan Adams’ «Summer og ‘69», the moon landing, and I got born that year, of course…

@tkoola I'd consider it a meme… I believe it started as a reference to the sexual position (one of those "reading dirty meanings into things that weren't intended to be dirty" things 😉) but has now definitely grown a life of its own!

@jayeless yes, maybe meme is the best nomiker for this. Can't think of any other numbers have this (in English language) world. Chinese have a dizzying array of meanings for numbers like www.urbandictionary.com/define.ph...

@tkoola Haha, that is interesting! I knew about the extra meanings the numbers 4 and 8 have in Chinese, but I didn't know there were so many more. As far as English goes, I guess 666 ("the number of the beast") has some extra meaning/is also kind of a meme? But you're right that there aren't many others.

@tkoola Douglas Adams introduced the number 42, which triggers a reaction in the SF nerd subset of the population.

@helgeg oh, yes, that is a good one. Some sports people have numbers that every fan recognizes but that is not probably universal
