After 7 months of being Chef at an independent restaurant group (3 units) I’m close to making a change to simply being the lead cook at a near by resort hotel. Out of management and just work my shifts. Actually more $$ and better benefits. It’s a union position.
@hawaiiboy Congratulations! Despite the title change, it sounds like it’s the better deal by far. I went from “Leader - Data Bank” to just “Systems consultant” once, and I couldn’t have been happier.
@Miraz I left being a General Manager (for many years) and went back to just working in the kitchen, but Chef is still a manager with many responsibilities. I'm looking to get out of management altogether and just cook. The pay and benefits are better at resorts.
Rather than manage others, Is just prefer to manage getting out of bed each day.
