@hawaiiboy It needs to. As James Howard Kunstler says, the era of “Happy Motoring” is over, as it takes more and more money to coax oil & gas from the ground and electric motoring on our current scale seems ephemeral. Rail is very energy efficient, but a mess in the US.
@ReaderJohn I listened to an extensive interview with William Flynn, the Exec Dir of AMTRAC a few weeks ago. HIs vision for the system was very clear and doable. Hopfully with Biden in office, they can make advances.
