Pretty much what I expected. Summer
@hawaiiboy There’s a conservative cottage industry springing up over essential workers taking priority over geezers like me because Covid is more lethal for us.
So what? I can stay home. If another geezer cannot, he may be an essential worker. How intersectional is that?
@ReaderJohn it’s getting strange people are drawing lines. We don’t know how long the vaccine works and if it can handle a heavy virus 🦠 load. That’s what more testing would have told us, it this is where we are.
I’m 61, healthy and work in the public. The precautions are habit now. Mask, hand washing, distance, not touching anyone. We’ve come this far, I’d like to get protected sooner, but can wait till...
@hawaiiboy I'm 70, planning to get vaccinated when I can. A couple of months ago I was saying that we may never have a vaccine, and I'm still amazed that we have one -- so I'm not going to complain (much) about my place in line.
@hawaiiboy It seems like a sensible prioritization. I can work from home indefinitely, so I'm in no rush. I do worry about my mom who lives in a rural 'Trump' county. She gets harassed for wearing her mask at work. People cuss her out for requiring masks to enter the store. The county sheriff calls mask-wearers 'sheep' and encourages businesses to ignore the law. She's very careful, but when she gets her vaccine I'll breathe a big sigh of relief!
@Cheri wow that all sounds super gross, and a big reason why we are still in this mess. Obviously, but still: ew.
@Cheri that’s sad about your Mom’s situation. My tune may change slightly if I get back in to the hospitality industry in 21.
@Cheri Ugh, how awful! And surely a Sheriff encouraging folks to break the law should be grounds for dismissal. Aren't they sworn to uphold the law?
@Miraz I'm with you. In most places Sheriff is an elected position, so it's really on the voters to decide what warrants dismissal.
@Miraz Unfortunately, he enjoys broad support from the community. I hope my mother moves someday. But she has a paid-off house and a small business. It’s tough to uproot and start over.
