Oooh! A new fibre broadband player in the local ar...
Oh.
@Edent this one spent 2 weeks noisily digging up the street outside my window last year.
@russss
Boooo!
At the start of lockdown, BT were spraying signs on our road for FTTP. Still nothing.
@Edent I know it's not helpful but... "chuckles enjoying 1000:1000 fttp connection". Our high speed internet rollout is a joke, took like 3 years from them saying it was coming soon to be being installed.
@Edent BT managed to beat all these other altnets and got fibre installed here a couple of weeks ago. Now I just need to sort my house out so they can install it...
@Edent Same. Still waiting for full fibre to make it to our small town in the Pennines. Annoyingly Virgin Media cabled nearby streets a few years ago but not our little cul-de-sac.
@Edent booo. It sucks doesn’t it. I received a quote for FTTP on Demand, Openreach quoted an “Estimated Build Cost: Greater than £100,000”.
@Edent I don’t suppose you have any wireless options? As I don’t have any wired options out in the stocks of Teesdale, gone with Alncom. Today is s little slower than usual, but not too shoddy
@Edent ps “sticks” 🤣 and I know a few guys around here who have just jumped right in to Starlink.
@hall Oh, I've got 500Mbps down with Virgin. I was just looking for other options.
@Edent Urgh, know the feeling. There is a local altnet who have been constantly advertising around here for years and yet get no closer to actually building anything in Bath. They are always "coming to your area soon!"
I think they just can't get a high enough density of interest on our side of the city. Most people can get 70-150 from OR, which is fine for a lot of households. Virgin is available in a large section of the south so hard to compete.
