@vincent I had plans to start my instructor training in 2020… a years ban on GA flying slowed that down a bit and there were plenty of airline pilots wanting to instruct recently. However, things are returning to normal and I’m sure there will be openings again - as there usually are.

@vincent I don’t think I knew you are a pilot. I definitely think your previous experience is still valid and will help you get your CFI or whatever the flight instructor certificate is called in the EU

@hall If the aviation scene in the UK & EU is anything the like US aviation scene, there are & will continue to be plenty of openings. Some operators in the US are already feeling & seeing the pilot shortage

@vincent let us know if you do decide, we will get the red carpet out. Beware, the UK has become very expensive (more than usual) over night. Energy has gone up by 56% and fuel is at a peak. Sad times.

@hall Cool. I doubt he will have trouble finding a job whether he wants to fly cargo, charter, corporate, flight instructing, or anything in between. Once he meets the 1,500hr requirement to get his ATP he should have his pick of regional airline or fractional company

@hall NetJets (who I fly for) requires 1,500 hrs of total flight time. Also, just curious if you know where he is doing his training at?

@jmreekes not sure - I’ll find out. He started near Bristol here in the UK and because of various COVID related issues (I believe) they went over to you 😄

@vincent That’s tough being that close and it still being out of reach. So much of aviation, especially on the airline and fractional/charter side is dependent upon timing and luck. We have pilots who were hired in early 2006 who are captains and pilots hired in late 2006 and 2007 who are still first officers.
